Carlingford and the surrounding area have so much to offer to tourists, young and old alike, whether you're looking for thrills or just looking for a quiet relaxing break away from it all. A wide range of activities from water-based sports such as windsurfing, sailing or the more relaxing fishing, through to hill walking with stunning mountain and coastal scenery, Carlingford has something for everyone.

Bars and Restaurants
For a small village, Carlingford is extremely well represented with a mixture of both traditional pubs and modern bars, as well as a stunning choice of restaurants to cater for all tastes. The village's historic streets are a delight to stroll through and if you seek more lively entertainment there is traditional music and modern music to be found in most bars.
The Four Seasons Hotel is located just across the road from our cottage, so its the ideal location for your weekend stay if you're attending a wedding reception or other function at the hotel. Cois Cala is currently the only accommodation in the village approved by the Four Seasons Hotel and our guests can enjoy use of their leisure facilities at a reduced cost!
Golf
With Ireland renowned worldwide for its golf courses, this corner of the island has its own courses to boast about. Greenore Championship Golf Course in just five minutes from Carlingford, at the entrance to Carlingford Lough.
To the north of the lough the coast road winds eastwards to Newcastle and the Royal County Down Golf Club, rated amongst the world's top ten Championship courses.
Activities
As you would expect from its location, Carlingford offers a wealth of outdoor activities, with a particular emphasis on watersports. Facilities are available via the local outdoor activity centres cater for windsurfing, canoeing and a wide variety of both water and land-based sporting activities. Cycle hire and horse riding are also available nearby.
The recently extended Carlingford Marina is always bustling with nautical activity and has firmly established itself as a popular destination for all pleasure boats in the northern section of the Irish Sea, with the marina located just 5 miles from the mouth of Carlingford Lough. The marina also features a busy bar and restaurant where you can relax and enjoy the views. The summer months have a busy yachting competition and regatta schedule so there's always something happening at Carlingford marina.
There is also ample provision for both sea-water and fresh-water fishing in the local area.
