Carlingford, County Louth

Situated mid-way between Dublin and Belfast, the village of Carlingford is located on Cooley Peninsula on Carlingford Lough's southern shore in an area of outstanding natural beauty, boasting spectacular coastal and mountain scenery. Once a part of the historical Province of Ulster, the peninsula lies in County Louth in the Republic of Ireland.

Nestled at the foot of Sliabh Foy, it gazes across Carlingford Lough to the mountains of Mourne and provides easy access to water and land-based activities, such as golf, sailing windsurfing, and hill-walking. Its sea-faring and agricultural tradition are today reflected in its many excellent restaurants and pubs.

The Lough's northern shore is formed by the coast of County Down, a narrow green strip of land lying between the sea and the majestic Mourne Mountains which tower above the little Northern Irish towns of Warrenpoint and Rostrevor.

The village and surrounding area are steeped in medieval history, with many historical buildings and relics surviving the centuries intact to nowadays serve as a reminder to lcoals and visitors alike of times gone by, including:

As you can see from the village map, we are very central, within short walking distance of everything Carlingford has to offer.
